Dictating in 58 languages on Mac
WhisprDesk lists 58 languages in its language picker. Speak in your language, and the text appears at your cursor in any text field where you can paste. It transcribes what you say; it does not translate.
Auto-detect or choose
In Settings > Transcription language, the default is auto-detect, or you can pick one language. Picking the language yourself is a sensible choice if you always dictate in the same one.
Two engines, different coverage
Whisper covers the wider list of languages. NVIDIA Parakeet supports 25 European languages: Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Russian and Ukrainian. It detects the language automatically.
Names and terms
Add names and specialist terms to the Dictionary to help Whisper and cloud models recognize them. The Dictionary does not apply to NVIDIA Parakeet. Note search with Cmd+K works best with English letters and numbers, and may not find matches in other scripts or accented letters yet.
Transcription, not translation
WhisprDesk writes down what you say in the language you speak. It does not translate between languages, so if you need a translation you will do that separately and check it yourself.
